Exchange of best practices in water management with the Danish government
The Danish embassy in Spain requested a meeting with the Aragonese Water Institute of the Government of Aragon to learn about its operation and management strategies. The IAA invited the ZINNAE cluster to participate in the meeting.
The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has implemented this year an initiative in several European countries to create a platform for collaboration between countries with the aim of exchanging knowledge, technology and experiences. The representative of the Danish embassy, Juan Vera, was interested in how Aragon is working in relation to flood risk management, improving efficiency in the urban supply network and reducing losses, the implementation of wastewater treatment in small towns, the management of sludge from wastewater treatment plants, energy self-consumption in irrigation and urban cycle systems, the reuse of water in industry and the Water Smart Territories initiative in which the Government of Aragon and ZINNAE are participating, among other issues.
It is worth highlighting the contribution that the Government of Aragon, given its experience, can make to the Danish institutions in terms of flood risk and, conversely, the good data on efficiency in the Danish supply network, with only 5% losses, for the exchange of good practices. Likewise, common points have been found on which to establish synergies, such as the circular economy in the management of sludge from wastewater treatment and energy self-consumption.
