The Cluster
Zinnae, cluster for the efficient use of water, is an association Aragonese non-profit association founded in 2010. Our purpose is to offer solutions to the water security challenges to contribute towards building a resilient and sustainable future based on the circular economy and smart society pillars.
Our strategic objectives are:
- Be influential in the water sector.
- Consolidate and attract talent to the sector
- Develop and bring to the market innovative solutions

Marisa Fernández, Manager of ZINNAE
María Luisa Fernández has a degree in Economics from the University of Zaragoza and a Master’s in Environmental Management from the Universities of Amsterdam, Leiden and Wageningen. She has 25 years of experience working in efficient water management by promoting technological and social innovation. She coordinated the project “Zaragoza, water-saving city”, between 1997 and 2006, contributing to making Zaragoza a reference in efficient water management. In 2008 she coordinated the Pavilion of citizen initiatives at Expo Zaragoza 2008 with the slogan “Water and Sustainability”. Since 2010 she has been the manager of ZINNAE.

María Benito, ZINNAE Project Manager
María Benito Fernández has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the School of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Zaragoza and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zaragoza. She has experience in innovation projects as a researcher in water quality and treatment, which led her to win first prize in the XIV Spanish and IV Iberoamerican Congress on Environmental Health and to publish 4 fourrticles in international journals. Since 2018 she has been a project manager at ZINNAE, participating in project implementation and management tasks and partners’ dynamisation through networking events, workshops and working groups.

Alba Ezquerra, ZINNAE Project Manager
Alba Ezquerra Escartín holds a degree in Biochemistry and a PhD in Analytical Science in Chemistry from the Faculty of Science at the University of Zaragoza. Awarded with the Extraordinary Prize of the Biochemistry Degree of the University of Zaragoza in 2009, she has experience in innovation projects as R&D&I Director in a regional company (Torres Quevedo Programme) for 5 years. During her career at the University of Zaragoza, she collaborated on 6 R&D projects, which led her to publish 6 articles in international journals and a Spanish patent. Since 2023, she has been a project manager at ZINNAE, participating in project implementation and management tasks and promoting partners’ dynamisation by organising networking events, workshops and working groups.

Ricardo Pernía, ZINNAE Project Manager
Ricardo Pernía Tejedor holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering from the School of Engineering and Architecture at the University of Zaragoza. He has experience in the environmental field as a researcher in the area of Thermochemical Processes and Recycling at the Aragonese Institute for Engineering Research (I3A). Since 2022, he has been a project manager at ZINNAE, participating in internal management tasks, project implementation and management, communication and research projects focused on climate change adaptation in water management.

Luisi Ferrández, ZINNAE Project Manager
Luisi Ferrández Martínez holds a degree in Economics and Business Studies (Business) at the University of Zaragoza and is a Certified Accounts Auditor by the R.O.A.C. She has extensive professional experience in the field of business management in audit, administration, corporate development, human resources and internal control departments. Skills as a trainer and entrepreneur by vocation. Since 2023, she has been a project manager at ZINNAE, participating in internal management tasks, project implementation and management, communication and corporate development.
