More than 5 million euros to improve efficiency in the management of supply to small municipalities in Aragon
The Aragonese Water Institute has published the call for applications for subsidies for actions aimed at improving supply and reducing losses in networks in municipalities with less than 20,000 inhabitants in the Autonomous Community of Aragon. This aid is divided into two lines of action: 1) Installation of measurement and data transmission devices to determine water losses in a supply system; and 2) Renovation and improvement of municipal supply networks to reduce water losses.
Line 1 “Installation of measurement and data transmission devices for the knowledge of water losses in a supply system” includes:
a) Installation of flow meters or water consumption meters at the control points of the supply system (catchments or main intakes, inlet or outlet of tanks or reservoirs, sectorisation…). Subsidies are not granted for meters at the points of supply to subscribers or municipal consumption.
b) Installation of other equipment and sensors to improve the monitoring of water losses (pressure gauges, etc.).
c) Installation of equipment to connect the above elements to automated management and control systems. The devices must transmit data in open protocol and be integrable with third-party applications.
d) Management tools and services, including the cost of communications, to integrate the data collected by the equipment installed, in order to control and monitor consumption demand and water losses.
e) Construction of chambers to install the metering and transmission equipment.
f) Technical assistance and maintenance for one year.
Line 2 “Renovation and improvement of municipal supply networks to reduce water losses” includes:
a) Execution of works for the renovation and improvement of municipal supply networks to reduce water losses.
b) Technical assistance for the project and works.

The maximum amount that can be allocated to each application for a subsidy is:
a) Line 1: 5,500 euros.
b) Line 2: 250,000 euros.
The maximum percentage of funding is 80% of the cost of the investment to be made, and therefore co-financing by the beneficiary entity will be required.
This call will be developed within the framework of the PRTR, and in accordance with the funds to be allocated in the expenditure budget of the Aragonese Water Institute for 2021, it is subject to funding through financial resources derived from the European Recovery Instrument (Next Generation EU).
