AQUALIA PROMOTES THE PROFESSIONALISATION OF THE WATER SECTOR
Accreditation certificate award ceremony at AQUALIA
In January, our partner AQUALIA celebrated the presentation to more than 100 workers of their certificates of accreditation of professional competences acquired during their working life in the company.
These events, held in Barcelona and Zaragoza, were attended by public authorities, showing the support of the Public Administration. This support, together with the participation of workers in the sector and the promotion of companies such as AQUALIA, will make it possible to achieve the objective of professionalising the sector.
AQUALIA‘s aim is to achieve recognition of the professionalism of workers in the water sector by the Public Administrations, in turn achieving the implementation of Vocational Training linked to this sector in all the autonomous territories. All of this is aimed at achieving a substantial improvement in the quality of the essential public service that AQUALIA provides to citizens.
Thanks to this public-private collaboration, AQUALIA has signed 3 collaboration agreements with the Administrations in 2017, 2019 and 2023 to promote professional skills accreditation processes, coordinating 10 calls for accreditations in which a total of 275 workers in the sector have participated with excellent results.
The professional qualifications covered by these calls for applications were Assembly and Maintenance of Water Networks (139 workers), Organisation and Control of the Assembly of Water and Sanitation Networks and Installations (49), and Operations of Water Treatment Stations (87).
This collaboration means that Vocational Training linked to the water sector is gradually being implemented in all the autonomous regions through public institutes. AQUALIA is collaborating with the education authorities in some regions, such as Catalonia and the Valencian Community, among others, to promote the implementation of vocational training degrees linked to our sector, such as the Middle Grade in Water Treatment Networks and Stations and the Advanced Grade in Water Management.
In this regard, AQUALIA collaborates with many of the educational centres that teach these degrees, helping to adapt the contents taught to the real needs of the sector, and promoting Dual Vocational Training as a training model. The Institute’s students who have completed the first year of training, both in the intermediate and higher cycles, complete their academic training at AQUALIA under the tutelage of professionals from the company with extensive experience, acquiring knowledge that is much more adapted to the reality of the workplace, and go on to work at AQUALIA at the end of their studies.
The work carried out by AQUALIA is a reference for the work that ZINNAE wishes to carry out in this field in order to contribute to making the professionalisation of the water sector an ever closer reality.
