Completion of the AmBViPur project
Work has been completed and the objectives set out for the ‘AmBViPur: Design of a digital solution for the application of slurry in accordance with collective biosecurity criteria’ project have been successfully achieved.
The AmBViPur consortium comprises the Associació Porcsa – Grup de Sanejament Porci de Lleida (GSP Lleida), Arateck Electronics, S.L. (Arateck), the University of Barcelona (UB), the Cluster for Efficient Water Use (ZINNAE) and the Spanish Pig Farmers’ Cluster (i+Porc), which acts as the project coordinator.
AmBViPur arose from the need to develop digital tools that enable workers responsible for applying slurry to agricultural land to make decisions based on collective biosecurity criteria, taking into account both the health status of the farm of origin and that of farms neighbouring the agricultural land where the application is to be carried out.
As a result of the project, it has been established that manure management can act as a vector posing a potential health risk, although its clinical incidence is still at a stage requiring further investigation; nevertheless, the project has concluded with the successful development of a functional prototype of the tool.
