The GOS INVASORES – Resilience 4.0 project on infrastructure and crops in the face of invasive species, is entering a key phase of implementation, with the aim of developing new solutions for the prevention, monitoring and control of Invasive Alien Species (IAS) in water infrastructure, particularly in irrigation systems.

During the first phase of the project, which concluded in April 2025, the consortium consolidated the technical knowledge base and compiled data and images to train machine vision systems.

In the second phase, which is due to end in approximately one year’s time, INVASOR-ES is transforming the knowledge generated into practical solutions. The work focuses on developing prototypes, improving control methodologies, monitoring new invasive species and preparing for future trials under real-world conditions. One of the most notable technological advances to date is the development of the prototype for the future automatic monitoring station using computer vision.

The initiative forms part of the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027 and has received total funding of €585,319.34, representing 99.1 per cent of the project budget. This funding is co-financed 80 per cent by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and 20 per cent by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA).
