INDRISK

Digital platform for water security.

Implementation period

September 2018 – March 2019

Scope of work

Digital technology

Funding

This project has been funded by the national programme for clusters support “Ayudas a Agrupaciones Empresariales Innovadoras” (AEIs).

Description

INDRISK is a quantitative risk assessment tool based on evaluating warning scenarios and simulation of critical scenarios using physical base models that generate new knowledge from the combination of data collected in intra-company sensory networks with another source of environmental data available in platforms operated by competent authorities. The result of these simulations is the prevision of river flow availability and piezometric levels in aquifers or reservoir levels which, translated to the metrics of a scoreboard, will lead to the initiation of protocols and action measures to anticipate the disruptive event.

Objectives

The specific objectives of the project are:

  • To develop a digital (IoT) sensor-based management platform.
  • Establish water cycle indicators
  • Manage the alerts and establish action protocols.
  • Improve the efficiency of water management by improving competitiveness.
  • Improve water quality.
  • Providing reuse criteria.
  • Promote the company’s strategic intelligence.

Results

Indrisk has defined a gradation of alert levels that allows the start of action protocols in water management, including measures to reduce consumption and restrictions. In addition, a table of irrigation management indicators has been drawn up based on a real environment in Aragon.

All these innovations have improved the efficiency of water management and, therefore, the competitiveness of industries, especially large water consumers. In addition to enabling more efficient use and facilitating water management, water quality and criteria for water reuse have been provided.
